2017 Folktale Escolle Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands
This wine captures the terroir of a single vineyard, utilizing two Pinot Noir clones grown adjacent to each other. The result is this luscious wine which opens with floral notes, followed by rich notes of crisp blackberry, leather, vanilla, and classic SLH minerality. On the palate, dark fruit flavors create a juicy mouthfeel, balanced by hints of cedar and a rich, tannic finish. This elegant wine is ready to drink now, or will age beautifully in your cellar.
100% Escolle Vineyard
Grapes were hand harvested 9/8/16 at 2am from Escolle Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands on a cold but clear morning. The fruit was delivered to Folktale, sorted by hand, then sent to tank to cold soak at 55F for 5 days. The fermentations went off without a hitch, peaked around 84F and finished within 8 days. Pressing took place 9/19, separating the free run juice from the press fraction. The wine was sent to barrel 9/20 where it sat until late August, just a week before bottling. The wine was bottled up 8/1/17.
